Freedom

May 30, 2012

Journey“For many years I was simply me. Later, guided by some remarkable beings, I became a Gurdjieffian, then a non-dualist, then a Taoist–and thought I was someone else. Now I simply am. What a journey! What freedom!”–Dennis Lewis

For many of us, having a label such as Gurdjieff, Taoist brings us the comfort of definition, of being part of a group or belief system. With self knowledge and self confidence we can find the freedom to be simply ourselves.

My “personality”; my sense of Self, seems mostly a memory, from which I maintain an external frame which interfaces with the world around me. A remembered concrete construct upon which I built my reality . . . (involving being part of a belief system which provided structure.)

    Does true self have no form? Internal space echoes . . . eternal winds flow . . . vast . . .
    Who am I? Afraid. I read the words of many . . . various truths resonate . . . yet, I float . . . hoping to settle and solidify . . .
    I feel a need for a recognized form . . . something concrete . . .

It seems that we all randomly attach to whatever works best for us . . . create our own “truth” . . .
